Marquis Nuby MD, FAAP
Dr. Nuby was inspired to pursue medicine while obtaining his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry at Whitworth University (where he also lettered in varsity basketball), in Spokane, Washington. He obtained his Doctor of Medicine from Weill Medical College of Cornell University in New York City. After graduation, he completed a transitional surgery internship at Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC. He also proudly served as a Captain in the United States Air Force as a general practice physician. During that time, pediatrics became the clear choice of profession when he realized how much he loved working with children. He completed his internship and residency in pediatrics with Baylor College of Medicine at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas. He was then a Clinical Scholar in Community Pediatrics at the University of San Francisco- Fresno Residency Program in Fresno, California. During this time, he realized he missed Texas so he moved to Denton. He has been serving local children ever since and is now a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP).
Dr. Marquis Nuby founded Nuby Pediatrics in 2006 to make a difference in the lives of local children from all walks of life. "My goal is to develop long-term, healthy relationships with children and their families, and give every encounter with them my very best effort.”
FUN FACT: Dr. Nuby is the proud father of two children and has two young grandchildren. In his free time, he enjoys jazz, sports and martial arts!
Christy Guiley, PA-C
Christy is a Physician's Assistant from Odessa, Texas. She graduated with her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Texas Tech University in 2014 and completed Texas Tech's PA program in 2017. After graduating, she spent 4 years specializing in neurosurgery while working at both Midland Memorial Hospital and Medical Center Hospital. Christy is excited to dive into the world of primary care and grow with Nuby Pediatrics.
"I am very family oriented, so a great deal of my spare time is spent enjoying moments with my husband and kids, as well as with my parents and sisters. We love spending time outdoors as a family and exploring new places. I also love traveling and I'm always looking for a new opportunity to head out of town. Utilizing my creative side is a passion of mine, even if it's just arts and crafts with my kids."
FUN FACT: Christy is a former 2nd-degree black belt and Texas Tech baton twirler!
Joanna I. Yamoah, PA
Joanna is a Physician Assistant from Pharr, Texas (Rio Grande Valley). Growing up in an area with great health disparity, she knew from a young age she wanted to pursue a career in medicine. She graduated with her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Baylor University in Waco, TX. After receiving her undergraduate degree, she continued her studies at the University of North Texas in Denton, TX where she worked as a research assistant to find solutions to bridge the gap of socio economically disadvantaged youth. She then attended The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, TX where she graduated with her Master of Physician Assistant Studies degree in 2010. Throughout her career, she has dedicated her training to helping pediatric patients. Her work experience spans from Pediatric Emergency Medicine at various Medical City Hospitals in DFW, Pediatric Urgent Care centers, and Pediatric Orthopedics to finding a home away from home at Nuby Pediatrics.
“As a mother, sister, auntie (tia), and follower of Christ, it is my calling, my passion, and my privilege to keep children happy and healthy …physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. I love children so much that I had 5 of my own! When your children come to see me, rest assured I will care for them as if they were my own. It is truly an honor to be a small part of their story.”
Fun Fact: Joanna was voted most likely to succeed in her graduating class. In her “free time” she enjoys traveling with her husband of 18 years, their 5 children and 2 dogs, attending music festivals and sporting events.
